Providing Peer Support and Parent Peer Support

A Certified Peer Specialist is a professional who utilizes their personal lived experience to provide support to others and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
A Certified Parent Peer Specialist combines knowledge gained from parenting children and youth with social, emotional, behavioral, mental health and/or substance use challenges and training to increase their skills to support other parents or those in a parenting role.

Individual Skill Development and Enhancement
Individual skill development and enhancement services provide training in communication, problem-solving, decision-making, self-regulation, and daily living skills such as personal care, financial management, transportation, and parenting, as outlined in a member’s service plan. For youth, services also focus on improving family, school, and community integration while helping families develop skills to support the youth’s growth. This can include modeling, mentoring, supervision, assistance, and cuing, delivered individually or in group settings.
